(a) Surfaces normal to the x-direction are isothermal
 
(b) Surfaces parallel to x-direction are adiabatic
 
Note :
For resistances in series   : Rtot=R1+R2+…+Rn
For resistances in parallel : (1/Rtot)=1/R1+1/R2+…+1/Rn
